Bankrolled is free to read. It is funded by affiliate commission and may also carry Google ads. This page explains how the affiliate side works, how we label it, and how it does and does not affect what we publish.
How we earn from links
At the moment our only affiliate partner is Wise. We work with Wise through Partnerize, the affiliate network Wise uses. If you open a Wise account after clicking one of our Wise links, Wise may pay us a commission. You pay the same price and get the same product as anyone else.
Our affiliate links go through our own address first. Any link on this site that starts with bankrolled.com/go/ is an affiliate link. For Wise that means bankrolled.com/go/wise, which sends you on to Wise.
Google’s advertising code is installed on our pages, so you may see Google ads. We do not choose individual ads, and an ad on a page is not a recommendation from us.
How we label affiliate links
Every affiliate link sits next to this line: “Bankrolled may earn a commission if you sign up through this link. It does not change the product or price.” You see it before you click, not after.
What commission does not change
- What an article says. Rules, limits and fees come from the official source: the regulator, the tax authority, the deposit-insurance scheme or the provider’s own help pages. We link that source so you can check it yourself.
- Where a link appears. We only add a Wise link where the product is relevant to the article.
- What we say about the product. We state plainly what it is not. For example, money held with Wise’s UK company is e-money, not a bank deposit, and Wise’s own help pages say it is not covered by the UK’s Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
- Our advice on where your emergency fund should sit. We have no affiliate link for bank deposit accounts, and we still tell you to keep your buffer in one.
The UK rules we follow
Bankrolled is published by a UK company, and our affiliate links count as advertising under the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising and Direct & Promotional Marketing (the CAP Code). The Code is written by the Committee of Advertising Practice and administered by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). Rule 2.1 says marketing communications must be obviously identifiable as such. Rule 2.3 says they must make their commercial intent clear if it is not obvious from the context. The ASA’s advice on online affiliate marketing says the CAP Code applies to affiliate marketing, and that on a mostly editorial site the affiliate links themselves should be identifiable as advertising before you engage with them. That is why the disclosure line sits right next to each link.
- CAP Code, Section 2: Recognition of marketing communications
- ASA and CAP: Online affiliate marketing
What we receive about you
We get commission and reporting figures, such as the number and value of referrals. We do not get your name or contact details from Wise. We do not set a cookie when you click one of our links. Partnerize and Wise set their own. The details are in our Privacy Policy.
Who we are and how to reach us
